The republican competition "Innovation of the Year" opens new opportunities for schoolchildren, students, inventors, and technology companies of Tatarstan. The competition, organized by the Investment and Venture Fund of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tatarstan, and the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences, supports innovative projects aimed at developing the region's economy.

The goal is to identify and support innovative projects at various stages implemented in the Republic of Tatarstan.

The objectives are to promote the introduction of innovations into the region's economy, stimulate research activities, involve young people in scientific and technological creativity, and use intellectual potential for the development of Tatarstan.

Thematic areas of the competition:

New chemistry, petrochemistry, and new materials

Mechanical engineering, instrument engineering, and energy

Biotechnology and agro-industrial complex

Medicine and human health

Information and telecommunication technologies

Categories and Prize Fund:

"Perspective"

For schoolchildren in grades 10-11 and students of secondary vocational education in their 1st-2nd year. Up to 5 winners will receive 100,000 rubles each.

"Student Startup"

For university students whose projects are supported by programs like "Student Startup," "U.M.N.I.K.," or "Start-1." Technology readiness level: TRL 2-4. Up to 5 winners will receive 300,000 rubles each.

"Technology Company"

For legal entities (LLC, JSC) and individual entrepreneurs with projects at TRL 5 and above that have sales. Up to 5 winners will receive 500,000 rubles each.

"Corporate Innovation"

For large companies supporting innovations and startups. Up to 5 winners will receive diplomas. 

"Intellectual Property"

For individuals with patents no older than 3 years that have been implemented and commercialized. Up to 5 winners will receive 100,000 rubles each.

Application submission: from January 1 to September 30

Remote expert evaluation: from October 1 to October 31

In-person expert evaluation: from November 1 to November 30

Award ceremony: at collegiums of relevant ministries

Category "Corporate Innovation": 

Application submission: from January 1 to July 30

Remote expert evaluation: from August 1 to August 31

In-person expert evaluation: during Kazan Digital Week

Award ceremony: at collegiums of relevant ministries

Participants can be citizens of the Russian Federation and legal entities registered in Tatarstan engaged in innovative activities. Applications are submitted through the website https://bestinnovation.ivfrt.ru. Required documents: application form, consent, supporting materials (certificates, extracts from the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, patents, etc., depending on the category). All documents must be in PDF format, color-scanned, with legible text.

Last year, the competition gathered more than 500 applications. Winners were awarded at collegiums of the Ministry of Youth Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Tatarstan, and at the Russian Venture Forum 2025.

The competition categories include:

Perspective: For the youngest: apply if you are a school student or a vocational school student.

Student Startup: For those who have already won support to create their student startup and are now continuing active work. If you have the first results, apply for this category!

Technology Company: If you have already successfully carved out your niche in the market. Technology readiness level: 5 and above. 

Intellectual Property: For commercialized and implemented patents registered no more than three years ago.

Corporate Innovation: A special category for large companies, showcasing technologies that are at the stage of readiness for implementation.

The annual republican competition for scientific and technological projects, organized by the Investment and Venture Fund of the Republic of Tatarstan jointly with the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, will allow you to present your project to a wide audience and gain recognition for your innovative achievements.
